"Rushimela Indigenous knowledge and Scientific Education [ RISE ] Foundation You will find plethora of organizations working in the Melghat region of Maharashtra. However, RISE’s founders decided to explore the problems and address their root cause. The problems surfaced and the roots were dug, now it was time to find solutions. Observations and previous experience had shown that the exported solutions didn’t really work. So, what was the way out? The founder decided to go a few steps back from the conventional solutions. And surprisingly the solutions were right there; some hidden in the trees, and some entwined in the practices, some manifested in words and a few buried under the urban notions of knowledge. It was realized that, modern problems don’t always need modern solutions. That is, language and culture research hold the potential solutions. This moment of realization led to the foundation of Yuva Melghat, which was rechristened as RISE Foundation. The establishment of the “RISE Foundation” was spurred by the inspiration to preserve the remarkable aspects of indigenous lifestyles and traditions, while maintaining their deep connection with environment.
